99 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER
I bought a 99'Mountaineer June 08'.It's the 5.0 AWD. When I bought it already had 33X12.50's on the factory wheels so I know it's got some kind of a lift or those tires wouldn't fit. Which I'm pretty sure it's shackles in the rear and I'm not sure about the front. So I took it a bought a set of 15x8 inch wheels and a 3 body lift. It's killing me that the only suspension lift I've been able to find for it is a 4 inch from Superlift which is ok but it's $1,900 and that's not ok to me for only 4 inches of lift. Well I've come across a 3 inch lift kit for a 99 explorer that consist of lift spindles in the front and blocks in the rear.I'm kinda a newbie to the lifted trucks and off road scene so my question is if it's already using shackles in the rear and whatever in the front will the spindles and blocks raise in another 3 inches or is it just going to work in conjunction with what's already there?? thanks for reading and any info would be greatly appreciated.

Spindles will only work on 2wd vehicles. Your awd uses the same suspension as a 4wd.

Oh..The add didn't specify it was for 2wd only. I just wasn't sure and didn't want to buy it and it not work. Looks like my only lift option is the SUPERLIFT which is way over priced..

For the price of the superlift you could have a solid axle in there. It is a very involved project but if you know your stuff and are serious, you should look into
it. However, you said you are a newbie so maybe not.

Or you could get fiberglass fenders and easily run 35s. Not sure if you would want to do that on stock IFS though.

yea I've been thinking about the solid axle for a while. I mean I'm not a hardcore off roader but I like gettin off the pavement now and then. And everyone says that it would do better off road if I had the single axle. I'm not like a big newbie..I've always worked on cars and done alot of custom work for people and all of my own cars like suspension and engine work. But as far as actually getting into the "off road" parts I've still got some learning to do
