I adjusted my parking brakes using the star wheel which helped a little bit at first. But now the brakes still won't hold anything. Is there a way to adjust them other than the star wheel that adjusts the shoes? Is the parking brake cable stretched out or something?

Also I have always thought the parking brakes on the Explorers are pittyful. Has anyone ever thought about doing some kind of mod where the parking brake works by mechanically working the actual brake pads?

sounds like the cable is stretched there is an adjuster on drivers side under your x just fallow the cable to it. readjust the shoes then do cable i adjust mine cable a little at a time till the parking brake peddle is hard at 3 or 4 clicks and i have no problem with mine holding.
