So I think I have to face the facts.A V-8 swap into my X is going to take too long, I work full time, have 2 businesses I run and 5 kids. So, what to buy and what to look for in it.I plan on getting a 4x4 and something I can fit 35's on after I lift it.I am thinking 95 or newer Bronco, but don't want to limit myself to one vehicle.Advice? What I am looking for here is what I would have heard if I had visited this site before I Bought my Ex.....IE Don't get a first gen automatic! Are the auto tranny's in the Full size Bronco's problematic? Anyone here own a durango, I heard they have bad trannies too?

I believe the bronco uses the same trans as the F-150s.

My uncle had a durango and at 60k miles it needed about $1300 of work to pass inspection and every year after that. Some of the durangos I worked on and did inspections on needed alot of work. They would rarely pass emmissions on the first try, ussually they needed t-stat, plugs, wires, whatever. Balljoints would always fail around 55-60k miles. This is just my experience with them. They are not high maintainence until they start hitting 60-65k miles.

I was thinking..........uh ..........maybye..............youknow..........a Jeep Rubicon.There I said it.

Jeep XJ (Cherokee). Solid axles, bulletproof drivetrain, easy to work on. Get a 91+ with the 4.0 H.O. and the new style cooling system. Go to www.naxja.com for more info.
