Hey all
As I am a new member I hope this is the correct area to
post this question..
94 4.0 I have a code 214 that comes up 4 seconds after I start
the engine.. I have tried several times to clear it, it comes on and stays on,
I need access to the CMP. Anyone know any easy ways to get to it?
Is it worth the time to pull hood off and just climb up to it? It appears that
it is located at the rear center of engine, where the dist. would be on older
v-8's.
Thanks in advance

Cam synchronizer

Hi,I just went though this my self bought a new CPS from a forum member,I had to take the top intake off to get at it(as it is at the back of the motor).I set the engine to top dead center match marked everything(with the top of the sensor removed),I had to use a small piece of rope and a pry bar to pull the CPS out of the block once I got it moving back and forth. With the top removed from the synchronizer you can see the vane is half moon shaped and is almost perfectly in line with the engine center line with the the curve on the passenger side [ ( ] and line up with the long mark on the window of the CPS.Or what I am saying is I put mine back in the exact same way it came out,Hope this helps.
