Here's your opportunity to get a photo of your vehicle posted at the top of the Aerostar section. Every Aerostar owner should submit a photo of their vehicle so that we could vote on which one will be posted at the top of this section. It could be stock or modified. Nice background scenery is a plus. :aerostar:

I'm surprised nobody posted any photos yet. I'm going to start with one photo.

Well, I've been gone on vacation for 3 weeks or so, otherwise I'd have been all over this.

Here is the only ones I have so far, will get more soon.

I wanted this one in my signature or avatar (smaller) but can't seem to make that happen.

And with my other car, the GLS after both had a bath and the van had a wax, parked in front of my shop behind the house.

I'd suggest to all to use something like tinypic.com or photobucket to host your pics. Always want to conserve server space.

My '94 Aero XL 3.0

Just bought this '94 Aerostar XL 3.0 and applying needed fixes and maintenance. It's super clean inside, too. I love this thing. ;)

Nice Aerostar, we have the same wheel covers. :) Love the two-tone paint. Welcome to the site!

Hubcaps and Paint

Nice Aerostar, we have the same wheel covers. :) Love the two-tone paint. Welcome to the site!

Thanks! I believe those were the top-of-the-line hubcaps available. They are REAL hubcaps...made of metal and heavy. I wish there was a way to secure them to the wheel like they do with a locking lugnut found on actual custom wheels.

That style of two-tone paint appears to be somewhat rare. I notice that many Aeros had silver trim along the bottom and then a solid color above it, but not the same color at the bottom and the top.

I've seen a few Aerostars with your style of two-tone paint, though usually dark blue and light blue.

The ones with silver on the bottom and a solid (usually bright like red or aqua blue) color above are usually the "Sport" models from 1994-1996. I had a '94 Aerostar Sport and I loved it. It was just an apperance package, they came with no mechanical or equipment upgrades over non-Sport XL and XLT Aerostars (mine was a basic XL with no cruise, manual windows/locks, etc).

My 1997 Aerostar at Daytona Beach

Here is my Aerostar at Daytona Beach this past January. It has 230,000 plus miles on it.
I let the van idle because water was going into the exhaust pipe. We could not get off the beach until the tide went down.

I like that Ford nameplate in front of the cup holder.

My '94 Aerostar is an XL, but it has many of the options that I believe were standard that year on the XLT (auto, air, cruise, tilt wheel, rear defroster, variable wipers, 3rd row seat). No power windows/seats/mirrors, though. Also, it has a little panel in the armrest to the left of the second row seat that adjusts the stereo settings, though I haven't had time to see if that still works.

Rear defroster was not standard on XLTs, as my '96 XLT does not have it. It does have a rear wiper, though.

I think rear audio controls were standard on passenger vans, all of mine have had them ('89 XL, '94 XL Sport, '94 XL +, '96 XLT).

Thanks for noticing the Ford oval, heh heh. :) I'm a Ford fanatic and I'm proud to be driving one again after being in an Isuzu for quite a while. That particular oval came from the my dad's '99 Super Duty (we replaced the grill and it came with a new oval already installed so I snagged the one from the old broken one).

I ended up driving a Lancer and an Aveo over the last decade. Neither was a bad car, though I knew both were ticking time bombs (i.e. timing-belt time bombs) and I unloaded each one once they hit around 85,000 miles. I prefer to have my engine using a timing chain, facing forward, and pushing my rear wheels (and I live in the AZ desert where it never snows, anyway). I was originally looking for an older Ranger and that’s what I have now – just with a lot more interior space. Heh Heh.

I think the rear defroster was optional on any passenger van. The rear defroster and wiper were definitely optional in 1997, as the 1997 Owner’s Manual has sections on both that state, “…(if equipped).” The same manual says that, “Rear seat radio controls are available on some Aerostar models,” though the 1996 manual states that it’s available on all,” models. I’d like to download a 1994 Owner’s Manual, but the Ford Fleet website only has them for 1996 and newer. Not a biggee.

I’ve loved the Fords I’ve owned and they’ve loved me back. They have always been the most reliable, cheapest to maintain, and easiest to fix. I had a’85 Thunderbird Elan that was awesome. Digital Dash, Keyless Entry. And a 302, of course. In the summer of 1980, I bought a ’71 1-ton Econoline to move me and my worldly belongings from Wisconsin to Arizona. It made the trip without a hitch. Actually, it HAD a hitch, as it was also towing a trailer with two motorcycles in it. I’ve also owned four Falcons (two 63’s including a Futura convertible, a ’62 2-door wagon, and a ’64 coupe with one of the last 260’s), a ’65 Fairlane wagon, a ’71 Pinto that was indestructible, and a Mercury Capri (if that counts). :D

Yeah, Fords have always been great to me. As mentioned, I've had a few Aerostars but also a dozen or so Tempos, Taurus', a Festiva, two Escorts, a Windstar (and you see I went back to the Aerostar), and a Sable or two. 95% of them were great cars/vans and served their intended purpose well. I had a '92 Tempo LX V-6 for about 12 years and made a dozen or so cross-country trips in it. It got better mileage than my 4cyl/automatic Tempos and never let me down.

My last Taurus was a '93 which I sold with right at 300,000 miles on it's 3.0L V-6 (love that engine).

Forgot to add, I had two Mercury Zephyrs as well, an '83 GS Sedan and a '78 Z-7 coupe. My '83 met it's untimely death in Arizona thanks to my jackass brother.

Here's my "girl", Sabine. She's a 96 with over 306,000. Just replace most of the dash lights with LED's. Running HID headlights and LED's for all exterior lighting except the reverse lights (soon though as well as putting in "switch back's" in the front turn signals).
I need to get some night shot's to post as well.
