I recently bought an 01' Explorer and I'm sure everyone's familiar with the radio display issue in the stock radios, so after researching I decided to buy an aftermarket radio instead. I have my radio wired to the wiring harness I purchased, after taking the plastic trim around the radio and climate controls off I noticed two things: 1. the radio is attached to the plastic trim, I was under the impression it would be secured to the vehicle so does installing the dash kit change at all? and more importantly 2. there are multiple plugs in the back of the stock radio so which to I plug into my wiring harness? Thanks guys!

photos of your situation would help tremendously

You'll need a wiring harness adapter. And I'm not sure I understand what you're asking about the dash kit..

There are 4 holes, 2 on each side of the front of our factory radio, get some ford radio tools and follow the directions to use them. The holes are for the tools to remove the radio, you don't remove the whole trim panel.
