I own a 1996 limited model and the fan stopped working. Before, it would only work on either high or low, then it would only work on high and now it does not work at all. The rear air still works, so I am hoping it is only the fan. We took it apart and I called the dealership and ordered what I thought was the control. The price of only $13.00 should have told me it was the wrong part and when I went to pick it up, it was not round, but square. As it turns out the control part (OF67Z*19980*BC) I need is $580.00, as they do not sell just the fan by itself.

Is there a way to directly wire the fan with a toggle switch? This is my second car now and is used mainly for the farm, so I do not want to sink a great deal of money into repairs. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you tried to locate the part you need in a wrecking yard?

Do a search for blend door.

Welcome to this forum! Are you looking for the square resistor, blower motor or a different part?

Thanks for the welcome. I need to do some research, because I am not sure what I need or what the part is called. *looking for diagrams*

I owned a 1992 Aerostar and loved it.

You need to replace the part they gave you-
it is the "blower motor resistor"

Look for it under the hood-on the left side ( viewed from front) firewall there is a blower housing-
on the blower housing , looking from front, at about the 4:00 position you'll see a "plug" with wires going in it appears-

Remove the 2- 8mm screws retaining it, and pull it out-this is your part.

$580.00 dollars!!

I am confused. You have a limited so you have auto temp control. Sounds like you need a blower motor speed controller. It is around $100, I had one fail. I believe they are quoting you a price for the dash unit.

Did you smell anything burnt before the fan went out? If so you need that part.
