My airbag light stays on steady, with no initial flashing code. My battery is less than 1 year old and has 13V at start. I have disconnected and sprayed every connector under both seats with contact cleaner, and light still stays on. By the way my seat belt warning light does not come on, I tested this by driving down the street with no seat belt on. I’m sure if I went to the Stealership they would just replace parts till they get it to work and cost me hundreds. Appreciate any help on this. Thanks in advance.

Go get the code scanned with a scanner that does airbag codes then report it here.

correct me if I'm wrong but I thought if the light does not flash and stays on steady there is no code.

No it will still store the code. I was getting a b2290 whitch has to do with the passenger seat sensor and when it first showed up the light on the dash was on so I restarted my car and it went away. I scanned it later that day and it was the b2290. In my case I have not seen that code come back on my car since I replaced my battery.

i have the actron u-scan and that is what i used. the price is 79ish but you have to buy the add on airbag($39.99) to scan airbag codes (there are more add ons you can buy to for all the addons with the tool price its around $200 for all vehicles) there are better ones for less that do more than the u-scan you should be able to get it scanned at advance auto parts or auto zone another local auto parts store for free.

due to the fact that I'm not getting the seat belt warning chime if you do not engage the seat belts, am i correct to assume that the warning system is also tied into the SRS system?

if you pick up a bluetooth elm device you can get the torque app on your phone and scan every code possible.... this route will only cost you $20 and does data logging and other really sweet things that a basic scanner can not do.... ive seen mine detect tons of airbag codes when I put grocery's on my passenger seat because it enables the smart bag because it thinks my milk is a 6 year old kid

too bad it does not work with iphone. Is there another that will ?

I did not know that Apple uses a proprietary Bluetooth stack meaning that the creator of Torque would have to pay Apple a fee to use their stack instead of an industry standard one for the Android devices...

so you have to use an ELM327 WIFI dongle
and people talk about the dash command app but I have no experience with their app

Just did some more trouble shooting and discovered that the RCM(occupency restraint fuse ) fuse in #17 inside fuse box was blown. Replaced it and it was blown again. Also about 4 months ago they had to pull my dash to replace the AC evaporator , maybe if they screwed something up.

I would think they would not mess anything up during the process. Did you have a dealer do it? If the fuse keeps going then it's one of two things or both a short or something is over drawing current. At this point I am out of ideas and it may be best to take it to someone to get it diagnosed. Who knows it may be something really simple or it may not be.

I have the Haynes manual which I think has wiring diagrams in it maybe I can find what is connected into that fuse I will report back if I find something.

Edit. After looking throught the Haynes manual it did not list the rsc system.

It is your battery. My car did the same thing.

Picked up an Autel 619 Autolink scanner. At first it would not scan the SRS codes, so I replaced RCM(restraint control module) fuse on inside fuse box #17 and it scanned up code B2293-A0. I then turned off the key and started engine and no more airbag light and seat belt indicators are now working. I'm thinking it may be a short under the passenger seat or the weight sensor under the pass seat. but for now the system is working.

I did have that same code until I replaced my battery. I haven't seen it come back yet but it would only show up when it's really cold out around 10 degrees F so I will have to wait for next winter to comfirm. I know you said the battery is only a year old but go get a load test put on it and see what the load voltage drops to.
