Trying to put an aftermarket alternator on my 1999 Explorer Sport 4.0. The alt was made for a 2001 Ford Escape. Bolts on, went and bought the pigtail for the Escape. My problem is I don't know what wires to splice into what wire. The Explorer has just the 2 wire and the Escape has 3. I can't find any diagrams to show me what the wires are supposed to be to figure it out on my own. Or if it's even going to work now that I'm knee deep into it.

Really dumb question?:

Why didn't you get the right one the first time?

It may put out more amps. The first one I looked up was only 110, but anyways.

The Escape alternator looks to be a 6g, the Explorer alt is a 3g. I couldn't find anything that conclusive on wiring it, except that the wiring should be pretty much the same but with a different plug.
