(this is from the 4runner site, everyone is invited
Hello all. I just wanted to drop by an extend an invitation to all the Toyota wheelers in the SE (18 or over for drivers, just to avoid any legal issues ).
We are getting a informal trip together for Saturday March 23. We are going to a system of trails that starts near the Amicalola Falls Ga State Park. The park is about 1.5 hours from downtown Atlanta. to give you a point of reference, the park is 15 minutes slightly NW of Dahlonega GA.
We did this run last weekend. We did a 10.5 mile loop hitting 3,300 feet, about 6 miles of which was moderate four wheeling, the other 4 was on easy forest service roads. The loop should take just over 4 hours factoring picture breaks and spotting, etc.
On our last trip we had (2) two door Monteros, (2) various Isuzu Rodeos slightly mod, 1 Modified Jeep Cherokee, and 1 stock Wrangler. As you can see, the goal is to get as many differnt types of vehicles together and have fun.
The loop we are doing is probably doable by most stock Toyotas, it is considred mild to moderate by most. Anyway, the short wheel base vehicles did fine, but us LWB were really helped by a few inches of lift (my lifted Rodeo is just a tad taller than most stock 4Runners for comparison). The trail offers everything from rutted hill climbs, rock crawling, and mud pits. The trail itself runs through some of the prettiest land in the SE and the falls in the park is the tallest E of the Mississippi river. People from beginner to experienced will enjoy this trip.
This is not a formal event by any means, no sponsors or any of that stuff. Just some friends looking to get out and have some fun. Of course nobody can guarantee that your vehicle will come out perfect (I seem to get more dents going to the grocery). And nobody can guarantee that nobody will get hurt. As a group of responsible acting friends we can all do our best to make sure nothing happens, but of course we are all ultimately responsible for our own vehicle and occupants (sorry, had to get that out of the way this day and age ). If you are interested in coming along, come check out some more details over on the "Isuzu Talk" forum.....you will see the thread for this trip as well as the last outing.
Some of us will be camping that Sat night in the Chattahoochee National Forest for those interested.
We will have a few pics and more details up on a site this weekend. Until then you can catch me at gr20010@yahoo.com
