hey guys

i go to get in the truck this morning and all of a sudden my subs are distorting at low to medium volume, out of nowhere...after work with the radio off i can still hear the noise from the subs as im driving...

i examined the subs out of the box and the amp and i dont smell anything burnt...i've pressed down on the subs and hear no scrapping noise....ive checked impedance with all 4 wired together and its still 2 ohms...ive re-done the grounds and even made them shorter...checked fuses on amp...checked with different rca's...turned down the gain on the amp...

im stumped....

thanks for any advice/tips

did you check to see if your thermal light was on? i had that happen on my MTX TE801D. I took it to a local guy i found on craigslist and he said that happens when a transistor(s) on the board craps out creating a roadblock for the signal. pull the amp out and try another one...if humming is gone, you found the problem. good luck!

The units are still playing fine at loud volume or is there distortion all around?

It does sound like it is an amp related issue though.
Unfortunately, it sounds like an internal issue.
Try taking your inifinity and wiring just one of the speakers to it, see what happens, make sure to use the same RCA cables and Remote that the Memphis is using now.
If the infinity can hold a 2-Ohm load, then run all four to it and see. Need to do trouble shooting with an assumption that the amplifier is failing.

the fact that you have noise when the system is off, kinda makes me wonder about the wiring.
