I have a 2001 exp sport with a 5R55E trans. About a year ago at 145000 miles I had aamco rebuild the trans at a cost of $2400. They were the only close place and reverse went out and somehow something punched a hole in the transmission casing, so I had to have it towed because I was out of town. It now has 161,000 and still under warranty and is having trouble. Once it warms up it will shudder just before downshift, occasionaly flare and hang up in second gear, and also whine once it's nice and warm. Here is my problem. I took it to aamco, they say there is no codes and the mechanic found no problem. They supposedly changed fluid and everything is fine. I told him it was having issues, he said it probaly just my loud tires whining. This is all b/s and I only have 12000 miles of warranty left. Any suggestions on how I can make them take care of this other before it leaves me on the side of the road. Sorry for the long post.

I know but the clown at the aamco says they can't find a problem.

I know it's too late now, but I, personally, would have wanted to see if anything was in the pan and/or filter when it was serviced.

you might possibly have internal problems like bands and clutches. or, the shift solenoid(s) may be causing the shift hang-ups. I don't know what all your repairer did in the "overhaul", but my experience tells me they will try to blame some part that wasn't part of the normal overhaul.

don't let it go out of warranty without more than lip service from your local aamco. if you feel they aren't doing the right thing, contact the franchise offices of aamco.

like my dear departed daddy always said, "If everybody was honest, we'd have no need for lawyers, cops, or judges."

jf <----has had his share of problems with national franchises.
