Another OHV M90 build

You and me both buddy. I might be up all night on Friday night installing. But then again, I might have to stop once I've drank too much beer.

Interesting thing in this data log though. The iat's are actually higher under high load than when idling. I'll spend more time on the Cold air intake after I get the install done.

Cleaned up the garage this weekend, have the new parts a last blow out with the air compressor to get any metal shavings out from my porting, double checked to make sure I have all the bolts....hmmm... Sure hope that throttle cable shows up this week.

That graph looks like Spanish to me:( i do see what you are talking about and that is weird. Maybe your efan wasnt running at idle for those and was running once you was up to temps and on it.could be blowing hot air at the filter.idk

That could be. I'll have more logs soon. It will be interesting to see just how much that M90 heats up the air.

Yea that data will be great info for me.

I think its going to be a beer drinkin day. The Maple Syrup doesn't flow till fall.

Just kidding, Honestly, I have no clue.

Wow.. is all I can say. your temps are waaay higher than anything I see roughly 102 and 112 with ac on. Let me know if you want to brainstorm the cold air intake I have some design ideas (one of which uses a member JakeC? style) with a aluminum trash can. Just not sure on the size I need for the fender, I have seen another member (ALDive?) he used some plumbing supplies and well that worked good just not sure how much due to the filter still be exposed to engine heat soak.

Yes, I'll have to re-think the cai portion. It will all be changing anyway this weekend.
Obviously there isn't enough separation from the engine bay yet.
What kind of iat's are you seeing Phix?

I just checked with another log, and when the engine is warm (Moving or not) intake air temp shows around 76, and iat's climb to 580 range as things heat up. Im not sure where the intake air temp sensor is. Maybe the iat is just a value, but is the same as the intake air temp? I have no idea if these are different sensors or not.

My throttle cable just showed up! It will work fine. I don't see how I'm going to make the cruise work, but I'll worry about that another time.

James says he will make time to do the preliminary tune file on Monday, as long as I get my part done and have a log to him for Monday morning.

as I mentioned roughly 102 or lower cruising and 112 with the a/c on. Which is pretty much stop and go traffic. The IAT is located/attached to the air intake setup, typically a little connector similar in size and looks as say your IAC connection.

On a side note it rained here yesterday and went to visit an old co-worker. Took to some spirited driving in a very freshly paved parking lot. Needless to say he was scared, as where I didn't want to stop. God bless instant torque. Truck goes in for a/c check tomorrow to see if the compressor is low as when I drive with it my IAT's skyrocket causing slippage in the trans.. no bueno.

My iat sensor is attached to the maf currently (It will be post M90 by Saturday). So, where is the air intake temp sensor located? My latest log shows both, and they both appear to change at different rates.

Yea 102 sound like its not after his blower.there is no way its running that cool.fishky runs around 130 with a ic and his is not a m90

Here's what I mean. Notice the two temp readings?
iat_sensor_temp, and intake_air_temp. Whats the difference? Where are they coming from? I know one reading currently comes from my MAF. Analog 2 is my A/F fuel ratio.

Your IAT's aren't in the 500+ range. You are logging the wrong PID.

That is because one is logging your IAT Counts returning from the IATS that the PCM see's and references a lookup table to correlate an IAT while the other is logging your actual calculated IAT temperatures based upon that.

Huh:scratch:looks like all of them are above 500+

Read my above post. He was accidentally logging IAT Sensor counts, not actual Intake Air Temps.

I see both 580 and 76?

Exactly. The 580 is 580 IAT Sensor Counts being logged. That data is plugged into a IAT Sensor Count vs Temperature reference table in the PCM tune which then tells the PCM that by measuring 580 IATS counts it is actually seeing 76*F Intake Temperatures.

O ok so your just saying that the 580 isnt the iat,its the sensor count.think he knew that but wondering where it was coming from, witch you just explained ;)

My apologies I saw IAT and thought air intake temp. Will run some on the way home to get you an idea. Been living on my livewire tuner so I tend to crisscross some of the PIDs.

Thanks Rocket! I was confused by the wording on the pid names.

I was hoping you would see this and explain what i was looking at.
