okay, so i'm going on a trip to North Carolina next month... hopefully

i got all the basic maintenance figured out, getting two tires before then as well.

I'm driving from Augusta, GA to Raleigh, NC.

Just shy of 300 miles, and about a 4.5 hour trip.

I'm wanting to explore(r) (lol) the city a little bit, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? Or maybe the close cities nearby. I'm really into car customization, and was wanting to visit a few custom shops to check out everything available.

Car related or not, any suggestions for the visit to entertain myself would be helpful.

btw, it'll only be a 4 day trip if that matters

Don't know if your looking for tips on places to visit or tips too on what to prepare for on your trip. If I were you, I'd take a quart of tranny/oil and anti-freeze with you, because ya never know. Obviously double check all fluids make sure you don't have any leaks, check air pressure in tires all that good stuff.

Your not going that far but I would have a few quarts of oil and trans fluid. Antifreeze, a spare belt/belts.

When I drove across the country I had a few quarts of each, I think 3 oil 3 trans. Spare heater hose, couplings, hose clamps, spare main rad hoses, antifreeze, washer fluid, checked all tire pressure, went through the whole truck before hand. Plus I was hauling all my tools. I'd have and always have a small tool box with standard and metric wrenches, adjustable wrenches, sockets, extensions, screw drivers, hose clamps, zip ties, vise grips...the basics.

oh yeah, i have a quart of oil, a quart of tranny fluid, a gallon of water, all packed in my explorer at all times... i figure better be safe then sorry...

but i'm just looking for tips on stuff to do, never been...

and i'm going to visit my dad and stepmom, lol. skiing? nah, i'm to uncoordinated for that

I'll be in Boone in March. Staying at a cabin there for the Bristol Race.

don't even speak to me. lol. i want to go to Daytona, Talladega, Bristol, and Charlotte sometime in my life.

Man, take some pics of NC for us so we can see how they live out that side... and make sure you eat as much as you can... Over here, they tell us you all down South know how to live! Oh, and enjoy!

I've never been to a Cup event, so this will be a first. I have been to a lot of truck and Busch races here at the Milwaukee Mile, and a some indy events as well. The Bristol tickets were kinda a fluke, a guy at work gets tickets from his local bartender and the 4th guy backed out, so I get to reap the benefits.

I would like to make it to all the tracks listed as well. Been to Daytona a few times, but never on race day. Did get to drive around the track though.

How about Dale Jr.??? I'm so glad he won, I hope this is a glimpse of the future to come!

Yup it was a great win indeed, hopefully it will be a sign of things to come, and maybe shut up some of the critics that been baggin on him since he left DEI.

I've been a Jr. fan as long as he's been racing.

Heres a pic of our car at Bristol last year. You think its fun watching a race on TV or the stands you should see it from pit road.

If your looking for something to do on the way you can stop at some of the race shops in Mooresville.

Definitely! I'll talk to my friend who is going with me. We're both HUGE NASCAR nuts, and he'd probably be stoked to see em to. Thanks for the tip.
