Anyone done a 3v swap ?

So my 02 Explorer with a 4.6 started knocking a little the other day. I'm positive it's the rods and Not the t/c. Has anyone put a 3v in theirs ? I'm pretty mechanical as I put a 4v in my old Fox Body, but this is my wife's. Just looking for any potential "problems" I may encounter. I already plan on "locking out" the 3v cam phasers.

someone confirmed that a 2v 5.4 block with the 4.6 accessories and custom headers is a plug and play swap. i think they said the 3v was too wide
