Anyone have a problem with Valvoline Max Life ATF for the Transfer Case?...

The manual calls for Mercon. Valvoline says it's Multi ATF, for Dex/Merc/Mercon LV..

The sheet says it's good for Mercon V...

I put it on the other day when I was replacing tranny fluid. Seems okay. I don't notice any difference or problems with it. Only did about 100 miles or so. I'd say anything is better than the crap that was in my transfer case.

That's what I put in 4 yrs ago. Autozone advised it's not for my 02 limited, but I showed them the spec sheet. As I recall the container does not state it's a substitute for mercon but online spec sheet does. Never noticed any difference in tranny

Its fine in the transfer case, that thing could care less what spec fluid you use. I'd try to use a Mercon V spec'd fluid in that trans though, as you know they can be troublesome and warranties can be voided if you have one...

I just seen that Advance Auto is selling Castrol Mercon V for $4 a quart! That's cheaper than Supertech! 'Probably won't last long. Get it while you can.
