Anyone have front Safari Bar w/ Lights pics?

I am thinking about getting a front Safari Bar to mount a couple of lights on. They seem to be cheaper than a Brush Guard, and should protect the front a little. I can get one for around $175 new. Anyone out there have a set up like this? Pics would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

I would say it wouldn't protect the front that much but it does look good. Good luck with your decision to buy.

i thought that these bars only fit 96-up? Did you have any problems with the install? DOes it come in chrome?

You are correct that they are for 96 and up. The reason for this is there are already 2 holes in the bottom of the frame for 2 of the brackets. This being a bolt-on add-on means you shouldn't have to drill anything. I said what the heck and bought it and drilled the holes I needed. 96 and up already have the holes in question in the frame so for them it truly is a bolt-on piece. If I can answer any other questions just let me know. I works nights (10:30 PM to 7:00 AM) so I will be going to bed soon and won't be reading anymore of these until I get to work tonight then I can comment more if somebody needs me to.

As far as my install for a 95 I followed the instructions in fig.2 to get the bar up as high as possible. It is a nice tight fit beneath my bumper. If I had a digital camera I could take some better pictures and show what I have done.
Even with the drilling it took me a total of about 1 hour or so.

To the best of my knowledge they only come in black with a 5 year warranty on the finish.

I have got a 95 with a Safari Bar on it. I also mounted two 5 inch KC lights, and it looks great. If you can bear with me for about a week I should have some pictures to show you.

Adam, did u drill holes as well? Thanks for your help guys, I'm going to go ahead and order one. I'm tired of people backing into me and breaking my front license plate bracket....grrrrr

I drilled two holes on each side of the frame to mount it, I had a local body shop that helps me a lot drill them for me. And as for protecting your lisence plate, be carefull if you put lights on... with the slight angle my KC's stick out very slightly toward the bottom (not even a 1/4 inch I don't think). Just wanted to run that by you. When I get the pictures, I will post them in the forum.

I 'm not saying that there WILL be damage to your lights, but since the lights are mounted lower to the ground than on a brush guard and close to the front of the bar, there is a small chance. Let me put it this way though, I have had the bar and the lights on for about a year, and I am very happy with them. I am not at all worried about that happening, and I don't think you should either. Someone backing into you slowly in a parking lot or something shouldn't do anything to it.

I have the Westin Safari bar on the Ex-Defender. It actually pretty well made and does protect the frontend somewhat. I took the airdam off, which means the main purpose of the Safari bar for me is to protect the lower edge of the radiator. Even though brackets and bar are quite strong, they obviously are not designed to wrap a tow strap around the bar and jank your truck out of the ditch.

I moved the license plate braket from the center - I never liked it there blocking the airflow to the radiator - to the left side of the bumper. The two cheap Wal*Mart driving lights I mounted on the Explorer bumper. If you never take your vehicle off-road, the latches designed for the lights on the Safari bar might be OK. For me the lights were too low and exposed down there. With some better lights, it would look even better, but over all, I like the result.

I have used mine for pushing. I have pushed a couple of truck to start them, a deer going about 45mph, tree stumps and a couple of trees that I wasn't trying to push It is from Manik, not sure if you were looking for one like this or not.

I love that Sportrak, too bad it cost so much!

Okrazie1, that is what I am looking for. Where did you get the PIAA 40s, how much, how well do they work? I might get the fogs in amber, or the driving light. Not sure how the clear fogs would work...any comments? Also, how bad is your approach angle reduced because of this bar; is it strong enough to act as a psuedo-skid plate? Lastly, are the lights protected well enough where they are mounted?

I bought the PIAA's through Carparts.com. I used a 1/3 off coupon and was able to get them for $100. They put out a strong, wide beam. I would think that your approach angle would be decreased slighty because of the bar being below and in front of the bumper, but I couldnt tell you by how much. This is a non-issue with me since I don't offroad with mine. The bar is made of 2" tubing, and appears to be fairly robust. As for the lights being protected, these pics might show that a little better.
