Anyone know if the 93 explorer is pre-wired for keyless entry

I read a post in another thread about 94's possibly being pre-wired for keyless entry. It got me to thinking maybe mine was. I was about to order the keyless entry module with my autostart, including all the wiring.

Does anyone know about this or have a site I can go to for this info??


Also I was looking at a co-workers bronco and his OEM running boards looked like they might fit my 93 exp Sport. Did Ford offer a running board option for the Sport or has anyone known of a mod using bronco oem running boards on a sport??

Personally I don't think the Explorer is prewired for anything that isn't installed from the factory. I tried installing a stock CD changer thinking it would be as simple as plugging it in...nope! It's included replacing the entire center console wiring harness. i was going to try to install a center console computer...nope! The wires are not in place for that unit either. I am not sure about the wiring your looking for, but don't count on it.

It's a good thing I asked. I just ordered my autostart with keyless entry. It's going to be tough enough to install on my manual transmission and I would have been upset if I had to wait for additional wiring harness to be sent to me.

It gets too cold up here to not have an autostart, but I would rather have had an automatic they are less complicated.

Yes you can co it. I did it on my 92 ,any one with auto locks switch can. I used a bulldog remote starter with keyless entry , but you will need a extra relay(not the fog lite kind) because ford has screwy door lock actuators(type C) mine works great. Good luck

you can install keyless entry, dome light illumination the whole deal of stuff on an explorer, my 91 explorer has a 5 post reversal at ground system, or something like that, which basically mean you have to buy a couple relays, like toad said. Then its just a matter of wiring everything up. good luck
