I've got an 07 V6 EB 4wd with the factory tow package (including the trans cooler, gear ratio and class 3/4 hitch) and about 35k on it.

I was towing my boat home on a hot (100+) afternoon. The trip was about 3 hours and included some pretty steep inclines but, was primarlily down hill - from about 4500 feet to sea level. On the way up, a week earlier under similar circumstances, all was fine. Toward the end of the drive, near sea level and on flat terrain, I noticed some roughness and inconsistent shifting in the tranny. It sounded like the tranny was slipping though the tach gave no indication of that. It was particularly pronounced after a 10 minute stop to let off a passenger.

Overdrive was off the entire trip and no warning lights lit up on the dash.

The boat weighs about 3500 on the trailer. There was some stuff in it but we were well under the 5k tow and 10k CCVW limit.

Driving without the trailer for the last couple days, everything seems fine.

What do you think?

May have been overheated, and OK now. Did you have the fluid changed at 30k like the manual calls for? Also, it should still be on warranty, so have the dealer check it.

I tow the boat less than 500 miles a year and generally short distance on fairly flat terrain so, I haven't been following the 'exteme conditions' maintenance schedule. The trans fluid wasn't changed as part of the 30k service because it isn't called for under the standard schedule.

You are right about the warranty, I should just take it in and have the dealer give it the once over.

I bet the tranny fluid could use replacing now...

I am also thinking a bigger/better or extra tranny cooler may be in order. I'll have to look into that.

Thanks
