Hello Everybody,

I'm having a problem with my 97 Explorer XLT. Something really strange is happening and none of the shops in my area are really helping me out. I start up the truck, put her in drive and maybe get 100-200 feet before my rpm's start climbing and the truck slows to a halt, it won't move. Try putting it back in Park then in gear again and nothing. Shut it off for a half of minutes, put her in gear and away I go for another 100-200 feet before encountering the same issue. Tried putting it in 4x4 and still the same effect. I have checked the Transmission fluid and it appears to be topped up and doesn't smell like it's burnt. No check engine light or anything either. Any ideas?

Thanks
Chris

I'd be curious to know what your transmission line pressures were doing during this time.

Any idea on how to test it? I really don't want to scrap the truck but I'm on the edge of doing so.....

Hook up a transmission pressure test gauge to the line port on the transmission.
