95 Cobra but 302 is 01 Ex
Hey guys only second post. I am using the short block 302 out of a 01 Explorer for and replacing my 347 in my 95 Cobra. Trashed the short block on the 347 and can't afford to go back. I also think my X cam is too much lift for stock mustang pistons. What I did not know is if the 302's in the later model Explorers had the same pistons (as far as valve reliefs depths go) as the early 90's Mustang 302's do. I have a b303 cam I can use but I would liek to use my X. As far as that question goes, are there any other sortblock differences between or casting numbers between the mustang and exploerer 302's?

Can someone answer a rumor about the Exploerer 302's also. I was told that the Explorer/Mountaineer started using the 302's in 95 as they were stopping with the Mustangs/Crown Vic etc and they had a surplus of 302's to get rid? Any truth to that?

Thanks for your help everyone!
Ray
