I have an '03 Ranger that I have installed an overhead console and an auto-dimming mirror both from Ford Explorers. While at the junkyard today, I found a newer model auto-dimming mirror (I think its out of an '01) that uses the same wiring harness and wire colors that my older model one does. I think it looks alot better and want to swap it with mine. The trouble is that the auto-dimming mirrors have a weird hard to depress release clip and I can't get my existing one off. I'm afraid of cracking the windshield if I pry on it much more. I know how to remove a mirror, but this one is hard. The donor vehicle had a smashed windshield so I just simply pulled the mirror and mount out of it. Anyone have a good way to get this loose or should I just pay a few dollars and pass the risk on to a local auto-glass shop? Thanks for the help!!
