Hey guys, I just joined the forum, first one im a member of.

I own a 99 XLT, 4.0SOHC, auto-engage 4x4, automatic, stock lift/stock tire height, and after puttin some wear and tear on it since december, I decided to start fixing what i broke. Came across this forum about at the end of december, about a month after i got the truck. It took me a few hours from gettin it on the road to possibly vapor lock it. 4 days later i got it stuck in a decent amount of water for a few hours, after that my ac/heat vents didnt work, and my 4x4 doesnt work right.
After comin across a thread about the vents not working on a second gen, i found out about the black vaccum ball in the passenger wheelwell that controls it... Mine was busted, as soon as i fixed it, my vents were working again. Thanks for the help with that, thats one issue outtas the way. After finding this sight helpful, i joined and hope i can get some ideas on what to do with the 4x4.
Its the auto-engage setup, believe its the Borg Warner 44-05 transfer case if im not mistaken. I had my whole rearend submerged, could just see the top lip of the back rims, couldnt see my running boards, and the front rims had water up to the hubs. After that, it would kick in when the wheels would slip, and it wouldnt disengage. Id have to cut the wheel as far as i could in reverse and smash the gas over and over for it to come out. I think its the electric motor thats shot.
The thing is, id rather ditch the auto-engage, so i could have 2 wheel drive and do burnouts and what not, then put it in 4x4 on my own for offroading. The other t-case that came in the explorers, think its the BW 13-54, i was wondering if thats a legit 2H/4H/4L, and if it is, what would be required to swap over to that case. Thanks for the help.
