Hi,
I've searched the site and didn't find a discussion, on this, so he goes.
State and Federal laws are now requiring headlamps, to be on anytime, we have our wipers on, as well as vehicles produced after a certain year have daytime running lamps.
I was wondering if anybody had tried and/or could tell me where the sensor/eye is for the "Auto Headlamps" on a "99" Eddie Bauer?
Seems to me if I could block the light, I would never have to worry about having my headlamps on a the correcct time. Seems now if I turn them on manually, after getting used to not having to turn them on, I simply forget to turn them off. I also don't always think they come on quite as soon as they could at dusk.
Anybody see a problem with this idea??
Thanks in advance, "pear"

The sensor is loacted in the mirror base. There is a way to adjust the sensitivity of it to make it come on earlier or later. Here is the post for a '97, probably the same mirror as yours. Scroll down to find the post by Robert.

hey wv.

turn switch to auto, pull out to activate 'auto' fogs.

voila. daytime running lights [only with engine on].

give it a try, pretty sure it works.

I took the assembly off of the windshield and applied a piece of limo tint to the windshield where the sensor was, then replaced everything. Now when it gets dark and cloudy, the lights come on. :smoke:
