Auto headlight disconnect?

Anyone know how to disable the automatic headlights on a 97 Mountaineer?
or the delay on them turning off?
I have HID lights and don't want them on when I kill it and walk away and really want them on the switch only so when playing in the river or mud they don't condensate.

I know the switch on the rear view controls some functions but not what Im looking for.

Unplug the rear view mirror. Easy.

Or just leave the slider on the mirror all the way to the left . . .

In that position, the only way my headlights come on is with the normal rotary headlight switch at the left of the dashboard.

95-97 has a different mirror than 98-2001.
