my front hubs have started to click. Does the 4x4 still work if I turn it on or will no power get to the front wheels. When I push the button it sounds as if they have engaged and the 4x4 light stays on. But I don't know how to actually check to see if it is on......maybe I need to find a dirt road :D

If the hubs are clicking, they are toast...

When you go into 4x4 by hitting the dash button you are changing the setting of the transfer case. Power is now being sent to the front axles, but with broken hub(s) you won't be getting power to the front wheels..

It is cheaper in most cases to convert to manual hubs (it costs less for a pair of manual hubs with conversion kit than it does for one new auto hub)
