Auto Locks Won;t work

Hi, I have read a few threads pertaining to this but for whatever reason I can;t enable them.

I ve tried the following:

turn key on .. press unlock 3 times,
turn key off ... press unlock 3 times,
turn key on... press lock and unlock..

The horn will chirp or be a long tone, but the doors looks will not lock while driving.. this happened all of the sudden.. is there a switch on the brake I should be looking at or am I doing something wrong..

I realize alot of you guys don;t like this feature and would be pleased more than ever that didn;t work.. but I would like to correct it. Any help would be apprecaited.

I have 1997 explorer xlt with keyless entry, love to check the manual but I can;t find it.

One thing I did find is that the Auto locks won't work if there is anything open like the tailgate or one of the doors. I thought my Auto locks weren't working and found my tailgate glass wasn't closed tight. Once I reclosed it the Auto locks started working properly. Maybe all of your doors are closed but maybe you can trace this problem back to a faulty door switch or something. Just some things to check.

all my doors are closed and the light shows that.. any other suggestions?
