Automatic shift issue

A rebuilt transmission was installed into our '92 Explorer and it now seems to drop from gear when shifting to third gear, take your foot off the gas and it shifts to third gear. Now the shop that installed and rebuilt the trans does not have a phone # that works. I'm afraid it was money wasted for my father. The fluid is full and clean. The original issue with the transmission is it would only go into reverse after driving to the store. It is a low mileage vehicle. Any clues as to the issue would be helpful.

Check that the modulator valve on the outside of the transmssion has it's vacuum hose connected.

If the vacuum hose is connected also check for hose cracks and if there is trans fluid inside the hose.
Maybe the vacuum valve is leaky.
