new key ignition in but no auxillary still not an active post on this ...
what actually makes contact here there is a cable with premade metal and copper contact that fits on the outside rim area that has a wire that runs down and connects to connector that runs the door bell for door ajar i removed it temporarily because it was worn where it fits into a little nibbled out place on the key ignition rim area
it was nice because no more door ajar bell nagging but is it needed to run Auxiliary key on ??? .. the bell still works if you leave your headlights on when you remove the key with the door open but does that contact on the premade cable for the nibled out rim control the auxiliary ground also? mine was a little beat up and sloppy in the seating :/ there is a little copper contact that runs around the rim that makes contact with the metals in the rim area of the key on ignition switch
most of the talk on the forums states bar .....i dont see the location of a bar that gets stuck ...is that" in" the cylinder housing that the ignition switch is installed in ??
to note:
yes an ignition switch can be replaced without a new steering columb use a big big safety pin cut the pin tip off bend it a little into a 60 degree angle or "L"
..its a good grip for finding the release hole also the key has to be in the ignition and turned to the run position for seating / removing the ignition switch so you have to disconnect the battery advised be careful with the new assembly it slides / comes a part easy and there are little bearings inside that will have you carpet sniffing
