AWD to Normal Transfer Case

I have a 2009 V8 STA with a 6R80 transmission. Love it. Want to tow it behind my Motorhome. It has AWD. Has anyone done a swap from an AWD transfer case to a regular one with Neutral? I have read in other forums that the transfer case is actually the same, with different software/actuators, etc. I plan on keeping the truck for the long haul, and would rather swap out the TC and PCM if need be than using drive shaft decouplers...
