Axle Code

Is it possible to get the Axle code from anywhere else other than the drivers door? The door that is on my truck is not the original due to the truck being stolen at one point, and i would like to know what ive got in the differentials.

Check to see if you have 2 tabs on your rear diff. They'll be attached by 2 of the cover bolts and one will show something like 3 73, or 3L73 if it has a limited slip.

I believe there is usually a metal tag bolted to the rear diff or something engraved in the diffs sometimes. Don't ask me how to read them though. That's all I have on that one, sure one of the guys on here has more info or an alternate route.

There is definitely a tab on the axle Diff cover, The Bolt in the 2:00 position Just had the axle apart Saturday to do Axle seals.

Not always, they're there when they leave the factory, but they don't always get put back on when the cover is taken off for a fluid change.
