Lets see.. breakdown procedure of the 1st gen front..

- tires
- hub lockouts
- caliper
- rotor
- spindle nuts
- spindle

And finally the axle shaft should pull out.

I'm sure I missed a few things but thats the general idea -- just keep working your way towards the shafts -- i'll make sense once you have everything in front of you.

ight sweet! im gona try to make it to badlands this month, and some guys said i should bring some extra axel shafts, just to be safe!
and its my first run, so im pretty new to it all! im pretty used to my truck nw! but im not used to trail riden!

Ah well good luck. Dont worry about removing the axle shafts, I'm sure some one in the group will know how to replace the axle shaft with eyes closed. Have fun in Badlands!

thanks!

You will need to remove everything as Izwack mentioned to the point the stub axle shaft is sticking out like the pic below.. At this point you can just pull the stub axle out of the diff (driver's side) or out of the slip joint (passenger side). Check out Glacier's Brake diary for lots of good info on re-installing rotors, wheel bearings, and torquing them to spec. Also check out the U-joint links ink in my sig for info and pics on replacing them.
