Hello,
The reason I have registered is because recently my 93 Ford Explorer has experienced some vibrations when driving and Tire Kingdom has accessed that the problem is the front right axle which needs to be replaced. I have been calling every Ford dealership and the inner and outer front axle u joints are discontinued and I was wondering if there was a universal model or place to buy them or another year for Ford Explorers that would equate to mine.

I don't want Tire Kingdom to replace them because they quoted too high as well as other "problems" with my car that my mechanic says is not the issue.

If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Christina

don't go directly to the dealership for something that is easily obtainable through auto parts stores.

check your local auto parts stores, I'm sure they will have some in stock.

just be prepared. the passenger side is a pain in the rear. i just changed mine a few days ago, and the aftermarket ujoint caps are not tapered like the factory ones. so, when replacing the outer joint, its a real beast to get the slip yoke to line up,and beat the axle assy. back through the knuckle without help. i managed it with the help of a jack and a bungee cord to hold everything in line, then knocked the snot out of the axle assy. with a rubber hammer. hope this helps.

This is the second biggest problems on explorer beside the hubs.my not break them with stock tires or gears but go big and i hear they crack like eggs!
