Does the $225 include an alignment?? YOu should have the truck re-aligned after putting in ball joints.

Personally I'd do it myself. I had my ball joints replaced at 26K miles earlier this year (under warranty), but it didn't look like that bad a job.....

Do it yourself

Ball joints cost 40 bucks apiece, and it tales about an hour to replace, maybe 2 hours for the first time.
There are plenty of threads about replacing your ball joints. Do a search for "balljoints".
Change them yourself and save the money to do mods on your truck.

Get Moog lower balljoints, they are greaseable too. :)

well just in retrospect, a local shop in my area wants $180 to do the lower ball joints, factor in an alignment so yours is about right, slightly higher but not too much

lower ball joints are easy to do if you get a ball joint press which you can rent for free from autozone. I've done lower ball joints on both my explorers and it's pretty damn easy expecially if you have the press. You could probably get away with out having an alignment after doing the lower ones.
