Hey there I am baffled here mabey someone else can straighten me out. I have a 94 exploder with a 4.0l in it and my temp gauge doesn't come into the normal range. I tried a new tstat that didnt help so I bought another one and tested it in a pot of water b4 intalling it and it opened at the right temp. But still no change in the heat gauge. I tried clamping the rad hose coming out of the tstat shut and still no diff didnt get any hotter shoulda boiled my engine over no? I get some heat out of the vents but not hot like it should be. So I am not sure what else to do any suggestions?

Medicine Hat?
What`s the temperature there lately? Any chance it`s cold enough to keep the temp low?

I`d say by replacing your Tstat and testing it, it should be at proper temp.
You can try replacing the sensor for your temp guage system and you can even test these.
You could remove your sensor and plug it into an aftermarket guage while suspending it in boiling water.

Or, you could remove the sensor from the engine (I think it`s close to the T-stat -maybe?)
and get enough wiring free and bring a put of freshly boiled water to the sensor.
