Bank 1 / Bank 2 ?

Have a 96 EB Explorer 5.0

Got a code for bank 1 o2 sensor but I'm not sure which is bank 1 and which is bank 2?

I would assume that being in front of the grill and looking into the engine bay Bank 1 would be on the right and bank 2 on the left?

Bank 1 is the side that cylinder #1 is on. Cylinder #1 is on the passenger side or the left side if you are looking towards the engine from the front.

Bank one sensor 1 is in the passenger side cat converter right off the header. I find it easier to remove the center console to get to the plug

The sensor pictured in the above thread is actually the rear or downstream sensor.
