Hello. Have a small problem, not a huge thing.

My battery gauge needle will be all the way at the top left of the gauge, and stay that way when I start the vehicle.

Only way I can make it be normal is by smacking the gauge cluster, which makes the needle drop back and read normal.

Any way I can make it drop when the car starts instead of beating up my poor car?

Remove the instrument cluster and check for loose connections on the circuit board.

I've had the same thing happen with some of mine. Same "fix". I've never taken the gauge apart to find out why. I can only imagine there is an internal stop for the needle that must fall out or break off inside the gauge. If you're gonna have the cluster out, you may want to investigate this.
