I was driving home today and every time I came to a stop light my battery gauge would fall...Then when giving the gas it would shoot back up 2 normal... eventually the car died...i went home grab a spare battery and it started up fine and drove okay...did I just have a bad battery any thoughts would be appreciated

Might be that or bad terminal connections. I used to have similar symptoms in winter when stopping. The headlights would dim and gauges would flutter. Turned out that when the ABS activated, the additional drain was too much for my crummy battery terminals. Cleaning them fixed the issue.

sounds like you had a crap battery.

Does sound like a crap battery. I've been through about 7 of them in my '91 Ex during the past 21 years. Most were covered under warranty. Other times it was the battery terminals. I tried to replace them myself, but never was able to get it right and the gremlins came back. Had a shop replace and they've been fine ever since. Just sayin'.
