Hello

I Have a 1997 Ford Explorer XL. My friend has a 93 Saturn SL2 Twin cam, his alternator died today so i boosted him, and then we removed the alternator. I drove him around town, and everything was fine. We installed the new alternator, and i boosted him again, cause the battery was dead. After the boost i realized that now my Battery Light is on.

Is this something that should worry me? Does my battery just need charging? Do i need a new Battery? Do i need a new Alternator?

Please Help me!!!

You'd better get it checked out asap before it leaves you stranded. More than one good samaritan has fried an alternator jumping another vehicle.

Most parts stores will check them for free.
Good luck.

Check the voltage at the battery w/o the vehicle running. Check the alternator output voltage.

Good luck ...
