Sandy, I'd say which route you take may depend on what time of day you get to 495 if it's late morning, go ahead and keep on I-90 till you get to I-95. If it's close to rush hour, go ahead and hop on I-495. If you take 95 the wrong time of day, you have to deal with lots more traffic and cross under I-93 where there will be plenty of congestion on a Friday afternoon.

I might hafta back out. The more I think about it, I don't wanna be that far away from my family if something happens & I have to come rushing home. I don't mind being away from my kids but I do need to be close by incase there's an emergency. It's a shame noone will even consider any ideas I have put out there for something closer & cheaper. :(

My old lady is a no go, Her kid has a soccer tourney that weekend, But Im good to go wherever.

Jen, if you want, try checking into NH on a different weekend. Doing Baxter on Memorial Day is still on anyways. (Any NH trip was NOT going to be a replacement, remember?)

Jennn...you're ideas are not being ignored. There is plenty of time to try other places you've suggested in addition to BSP.

Just called baxter.
The trailer thing is cool as long as they know about it in advance so they can give me a site that will hold it. I asked her about the alcohol thing and she said "well its just like every place else" So I then asked "so it is ok to have alcohol on your site?" And she replied after a long pause "If they see you drinking they will speak to you"

Noone has even considered anything but Baxter for the 1st trip. Ever since it was brought up it's been the pigeon hole idea. I don't mind hitting the trails but that's not all I wanna do when I'm out.

I can understand both sides of this, although Jen may want to come for the Baxter trip, I can understand her wanting going somewhere that will be cheaper, since Jen, like me are single parents, we may not be able to get the money that we would need for the trip since we have expenses that single people don't. And although John has kids, he probably makes more than Jen and I together plus more income if his wife works.

If Jen decides not to go I will have to wait until we have a get together that will cost less money, since I really would not be able to afford driving up their myself without saving alot of money, and even if I try I can't see far enough into the future to see if anything is going to cause me not to be able to put the money aside or something happening with family or friends, like medical issues.

My oldest daughter has a hyperactive thyroid and she is not well, I have insurance that covers my youngest and I but lost hers when she turned 20, she has applied for state insurance, and we are waiting to hear if she will be accepted so she can start treatment for her condition This condition has caused her to lose weight, lose her hair and she's always tired and weak so she can't even go out and find a job so I'm still taking care of her expenses.

Off Topic: Can you all please keep my girl Jessica in your prayers and thoughts that everything will fall into place so she can be cured of this condition, I just want to see her healthy again and if I had to forgo every get together we have to do it, I would :(

I hope you all understand a little better where I'm coming from and in turn will understand where Jen is coming from too. :)

Ok guys so when do we plan on taking this trip, I m sorry I havent had a chance to read all the threads b/c im at work and the navy is demainding with my time, and the only time I get to work go on the site is when I have a litle free time at work, thanks guys!

Right now we're looking at Memorial Day weekend...from Friday night on the 25th of May, thru Monday morning on the 28th. You don't have to come every night, but come for as long as you can anyways. Even if it's for one night at the last minute, we'll try and make room in a tent or lean-to or whatever we've got.

Did you guys read that? I still plan on bringing a full cooler you? The woman on the phone left me under the impression that people drink up there but she just could'nt tell me that.

At this point. I will have to defer to the president on us drinking or not. I wanna follow the rules personally. But if we can sneak a beer or too and drink it in the back of the trailer thats cool with me.

I'm led to believe that it's not prohibited from the grounds or they'd say so. Like the law implied, they'd need to post signs, and if they posted signs, they'd have a rule and she would have told you so. I'd say drinking at night after you're done driving is ok, but treat the trails like you would any roadway. No OUI or open containers, etc.

Sounds good to me. Im not going to hide in the back of my trailer to drink a beer on my vacation. We are all adults here. If anyone is worried about breaking the rules we can just drink at my site at night and if there is any problem, I will take the blame. Although I see no reason for a problem. I have been camping for most of my life and I never ran into an issue for having a few beers by the fire.
