Im not sure on that one honestly. Theres 04-06 trucks around here rusted to hell and back already. (90% of the ones im referring to are the Chevy's)
Yes, the road salts will eat anything. You should avoid it and try to spray it off as soon as possible. Undercoating will help but it's not feasible to be able to coat the whole truck. The under door edge for example is something nobody coats with anything, but that seam will rust through eventually.
Here's my 99 from when I rebuilt it, the first picture is after clipping it and painting the repair forward. I cleaned the rest of the back and undercoated up to the firewall. That's a lot of work, but not bad if the whole body is off anyway.

CDW6212R: Did you Sand or sandblast the undercarraige before you undercoated. That turned out nice. I need to do something like that. Michgan winters suck for vehicles.

The rear portion above is a 93 rear clip, an Ohio truck. It had minor surface rust, but you can see that it had undercoat to start with. I had treated the rust already by that time, with Rust Dissolver, followed by Rust Encapsulator(black in the top picture).
I used a wire brush to knock of most things, to get it clean enough for undercoat. I did lightly spray it with brake cleaner with the wire brush, I had to be careful with that to not eat way the old undercoat much. I spent about two hours on it including the rust work. The undercoat was about three cans and two brands, one from Amsoil and the others the best NAPA had. It's good stuff, I meant to get around to doing the wheel wells, but ran out of the undercoat and figured to do it later.

Try oiling them- the PO did that on Deuce, on the doors and hatch, and they look mint. Dust stuck to the oil, but there is zero rust.
