BD's 2000 Explorer Limited

2000 Explorer Limited

-Picked her up (10/13/2010)
-140,093 miles when I test drove it
-5.0 V8, AWD
-Pearl White
-Dark grey leather interior

My dream explorer basically, no more old ones, no more sports, I finally have an Explorer that I love everything about!

I absolutely love the limited, its got:
-Seats w/ headrests
-Memory power seats
-Heated/Puddle mirrors
-Better mirror without all the buttons, just the slider
-Painted to match bumpers and grille
-Woodgrain radio bezel
-Digital HVAC controls
-And its got the homelink visor with a nifty little voice recorder that I will probably never use LOL

And alot more, but im just in awe over its nice features compared to my previous rides. They even recently (In the past few months) had a brand new hitch installed and the trailer harness all wired up.

I dont have any set plans for this one yet, I do have hopes and dreams though, and im stoked about the V8 that has so many options.

Dream list:
-Torque Monster headers
-Custom Tune
-LED tails (Something custom maybe, I just need to study up on resistors and whatnot)
-BMW projectors in a blacked out housing

It does have a few problems that id like some help with, (Fixed all, besides this one)
1. The blower only works when its on all the way high, (Same thing in my grandam, but it was the blower motor resistor then everything worked great) is that a common problem on the digital HVACs?

"For sure" plans include:
-New rims, id like to get a nice 5-spoke set of 20's with a beefy tire
-Paint job in the spring, black
-Some interior accents (Id like todo another metallic blue color like I did in my grandam)

He was asking 3400$ in the ad, but I talked him and his wife down to 2900$ because I was pointing all the little problems out that I mentioned above.

I didnt get a chance to really take any pictures, as it was raining, and almost dark by the time I got home.

I was bored on the way home so I took some random "driving" pictures :D

My friend was driving my Grand Am in front of me, I have a Avic-F700BT in there that will also be going into the Explorer, he was using the GPS to get us back home

I was extremely happy also, I was averaging 16.2 MPG driving with a decently heavy foot getting the feel for the V8 I was controlling :D

Ive always wanted todo that. Everyone meet up one day, cruise around, have a good photoshoot, and find a good place to eat!

brian u got pics of the hids

Ive been working all morning on my box, set it both ways to see if any sound quality/loudness would be lost with the subs facing the roof, but thankfully it sounded just as good, if not better.

That gives me more cargo space left over, on top of the box being less tall than if I sat it down.

It fits perfectly, tomorrow were gonna get some new wood to seal it back up, and then im gonna make up some brackets to secure it down, and possibly add some handles to the box for the few times ill need the extra room.

My belt squeak is just getting unbearable now, its embarrassing to pull up somewhere with it running anymore.

Today I'm gonna buy a new belt, and idler pulley, possibly a tensioner. What's a good brand belt?

I've had good luck with Goodyear gatorback belts. I'd replace both idlers now while your at it. Replace the tensioner if you feel play in it, otherwise it should be fine.

Cool, got another question for ya though, who sells the gatorbacks? And are the "Duralasts" good tensioners?

Got another shipment of goodies in today :D

I ordered these LED strips off eBay for like 50 cents a piece, and 1 of the 4 didnt work, so they sent me 2 new ones free, I also ordered all the 194 SMD LEDs, a few didnt work so they sent me 15 free!

Sure, if you want to replace them again next year

Hah, exactly what I figured, thats all AutoZone carries though isnt it? My other choices are Napa, and Advance.

(Oh and ex-murrays)

No, you have but 1 choice. NAPA. Stay away from the "supermarket" style auto parts stores. You will only have to buy something like that once, if you buy it right the first time.

Thanks man, Im pretty fed up with AZ anyways, never cared for "O'Rielys," and I hate Advanced. Ive only shopped at Napa a few times, but never had any complaints.

I thought you had a PayPal- shop at RockAuto...

I do have it, never thought of ordering online though...maybe ill give it a shot.

EDIT* NVM, found it :)

never buy duracrap go with napa or carquest

Ive never gotten so pissed in my life. I bought a new belt from Napa today, remembering how it literally took me 10 minutes to change the tensioners on my 92 and 95, thinking it would be just as easy on the V8. Wow was I ####ing wrong. I read so many threads on what todo, and I cannot get to it. Nobody is home or not busy to help me, and I cannot get the tensioner loosened to save my life. My left arm is all chopped up, scratched and scraped, and was bleeding like hell for a while. I read a thread somewhere where someone said they had the belt done at a shop for 40-50$ thats what im doing tomorrow. I never knew such a simple quick task could turn into hell.
