Sorry this is long, kind of worked me up some.

I started noticing that my truck was starting to get a little shaky on the highway a couple of weeks ago. I rotate my own tires about every 4000 miles. So i figured it's time to get them balanced.

Yesterday I went and had my tires balanced at the shop I always go to, I get a good friend price there. After I left the shop I went straight home only about 5 miles away.

Today I had to drive about 150 miles round trip for work. The entire time I was on the highway it was still shaky. So I figured great, now I have to go back to the shop and have them rebalanced. I get there and after they check out all my tires and rims again. It turns out that one of my rims is bent, damn. I don't even know how it happened either. Guy at the shop said that it probably happened from all the ****ty roads our town has. That means this is probably gonna happen again.

I want to know why is it that whenever one thing on my truck breaks, 5 other things need replaced also. Bc the other day I found out that one of my half shafts are bad, I need new rotors and pads, and I want to replace my hub assemblies while I'm doing the CV shafts and brakes.

Surprised the shop did not notice the bent wheel the first time they balanced them. At least there should be plenty of used rims available for older Explorers. Check local used parts dealers. I have had this happen on other vehicles!

The bent one was probably on the rear before. Maybe that's why you didn't notice it.

the bend was so slight that they almost didn't catch it, atleast that's what the guy checking them said.

the only place i could find a matching rim was in a junkyard in a town about an hour away. but atleast i have to go over there once a week for work. so i'll probably just pick it up then.

the junk yard wants $55, is that a decent price or should i keep looking?

Well its still cheaper to fix than to pay 600 a month for a new truck, even if you do 200 a month on maint. your still way ahead of the game sooner or later you will catch up on the normal items that go bad on high milage
