best front locker/ls?

Or a used one from a street queen for $200 or so. Its not hard to put in.. basic hand tools and a helper (its a little heavy to lift by yourself).

Thats what I paid for a 1354 xfer case (electric) from a Yard in Hisperia Ca (more expensive there than it is here in Az). Mine even came with the shift motor (I kept it as a spare for a while).

Your other option is an atlas, but I don't think its just a drop in.. shifter Plus possible output shaft change (Rick would know, he has one)

...i just found this thread...:D
...my aussie seems to work ok and i know it will keep up with r.j.'s truck thru the wash...;)
...the steering in the switchbacks sucks though...i am glad to here your aussie is fine and i have a junkyard buddy if you know what you want...let me know...

...the steering in the switchbacks sucks though..
Same here.. Aussie in the front with a turning radius of NYC to LA.

...rofl, yea, i know you were in the truck with froader laffing your butt's off at me as i was trying to follow him thru the notches....:D

I don't buy that you spit out a hub from a bad t-case.

I've heard those noises before from my truck, no locker, no more noises.

I've also had a shop tell me a lock-rite has never gone bad...until they saw mine where the outer teeth had worn themselves down.

Did they take it all the way out of the front end?

and lunchbox lockers suck.....

Hey hey...I like mine just fine;) I just say he needs to learn to slow down, and learn what the limits of the truck are.

However I'm glad Danny siad his driving has stayed the same, if he siad he calmed down I'd be scared:eek:

LOL yeah we were, but dont worry, as I said, I'm in the same boat as you.. and I have a longer wheel base so mine's even slightly worse.

...i wish it was as selectable for steering and then it would be perfect...but, i love my aussie...;)

...and i'm with dannyboy, something don't sound right...sorry about the pun...:D

I have to disagree on the "lunchbox lockers suck". I run a lock-right in the front of my v-8 powered, explorer axled Ranger(with 4:56's and 35" BOGGERs), and beat on it really hard, and I haven't had any problems. The only reason I'm looking at the ECTED's for the 44 is because I can run with LS when not locked. Don't want to start a war here, so don't read anything in to this ( I know some people have rounded the teeth off of the dogs in the pumkin). But for everyday DDing the lunchbox is the cheapest, best locker.........IMO.......

the locker has been working pretty good imo, and yes the shop took the whole pumpkin out and checked everything out. i still don't understand about the noise my front end was making. POP! CLUNK! CLANK! and you can see the right wheel jump around when it did that  the steerin is pretty hard, especialy with low air pressure. but it hasn't seemed to be to bad, i just have to start turning really early. but man it was easy to drive through the ditches the last day when i only had it in 2wd :D

breaking my hubs, i think i just need to stop when my wheels start binding. usaully when i break a hub, its when im stuck and my wheels are binding cause they're trying to turn but the car won't move.

hey tbars, you think you could get me bw 1354 t-tase from your buddy? sounds like i'venothing to lose trying to put in a used one

...i will check with him to see what he has....;)

thanks ted

oh i don't know if it matters tbars, but its for a manual trans

...i went over and went thru his private stash, no luck....i found a couple good 1356's out of broncos though...anyway, he is calling one of his buddy's to see...i'll let you know...

thanks! :D

...pm sent, call me...:D

thanks for all the help tbars!

ted found me one for $450, but we ended up telling the guy to put a new one in for $1100 with a one year guaranty.

mike, the diff guy, said he called around to see about any upgrades for the axles or hubs or t-case. no upgrades for the t-case except the atlas, warn hubs are pretty much the best, and you can get custome made axles for a lot of money but they're still gonna be weak at the u-joints

the oil from my t-case almost all silver colored :D

So you are getting what kind of new t-case now?

Would'nt the 4406 t-case work in a first gen?? or am i missing something?
