I don't have an I-phone or a Laptop, but will the item above work with an Apple I-Pod Touch 5? Do you know what they cost and do they come with everything you need to scan the vehicle? Thanks!

The links to amazon should have the price.

Type in OBDLink in the Apple App Store and download the app and make sure it works.

Okay, thanks! I'll give it a try. Update: I just went to the Apple APP store on my Ipod Touch 5 and they do have several OBD downloads. The first one that came up was "OBDLink, OBD Solutions" which I think is free, it just says "Get" next to it. The next App says "OBD Fusion, OBD2, vehicle scan tool, OCtech, LLC" which is $9.99. The next is "Dash Command- OBD-ll which is $9.99. The next one is "OBD2 Scanner" which is $4.99

Is the OBDlink, the one that works with that device you listed from Amazon? I went ahead and downloaded the OBDlink one to my IPod Touch 5, it was free anyhow. Now I'll check with Amazon later for the price of the vehicle adapter you listed. Thanks again!

My mechanic buddy vouches for Autel MaxiSYS MS906 Wifi Automotive Diagnostic Scanner.

I've been using this for the last 3 years, it's the same stuff in HF just cheaper. Works well on most cars I worked on except H2 (toyota,honda,mitsu,mazda,fords,bmw,suzuki,etc..)

I'm using ForScan lately to have more diagnostic which the above can't show (multiple graphs and other Ford Specific PIDs) requires a laptop though..

Ya for one that don't have a laptop might be worth a $199 Netbook investment at Walmart or better yet can find lots of decent laptops on EBay for under $150 that will run ForScan.

Is it compatible with ForScan? One would really be missing out on a lot to not have ForScan compatibility.

The Blue Driver has a free app. It is very similar to Forscan. You can download the app for free if you would like to check it out.

I got the Bluetooth adapter through Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/LELink-Blueto...00QJRYMFC/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

The iPhone Engine Link app was $5.99: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/engine-link-obd-ii-vehicle/id591557194?mt=8 Includes Ford specific PIDs. It works with either Bluetooth or WiFi. I chose Bluetooth because of the lower battery usage. I've used it with both 4S and 5S iPhones.

Easy to read and reset CELs. Lots of 'gauges' and graphs can be set up to monitor in real time. No way to save graphs like you can in ForScan.

I really want to track down a cheap laptop so I can try ForScan but my current setup has been working for me for over a year.

Free or Cheap is good but ultimately you need something that will work for you.

I doubt it does PATS which is a major feature of PC ForScan.

Nice thing about that WiFi OBDLink is that it can be used with phone OR PC.

best scan tool for money

Iwould like the scan tool to be able to read body codes and do pats and abs too

Only ForScan for PC/Windows does PATS. Can use a USB or Wifi OBDLINK ScanTool.

I've got a question for you on the OBDLink APP I spoke to you about earlier in the week that works with I Phones or I Pods. Does the OBDLink APP allow you to reset CEL codes and does it also read ABS codes and reset them as well? Thanks!

I have a scan tool from Harbor Freight that reads and clears all OBD-II and ABS codes, was just over $100 with coupon.

It should be able to reset. I don't know if OBDLink reads ABS but I know ForScan does.
