bf goodrich tire replacement help

I have a set of bf Goodrich long trails on my 07 explorer and only have 40,000 miles on them. tires are down to the wear bar. the tires are 60,000 tires. the local place I got them told me that bf Goodrich would only give me 17% I call bf Goodrich and they have no info on the claim.. so I take the truck to sears they say the tires are at 2/32-3/32 and would replace them if I got them from sears. Now bf Goodrich wants me to run around to other dealers to get the tires checked . anyone on this board have any dealings with bf Goodrich???

That doesn't seem right, I did just replace the same tires with a set of Dunlop Rover H/T, I might do the leg work if they will replace them with new ones.

So you go to a reputable retailer (Sears) who confirms they are down to MIN safe tread...but they want to you to to other places? I would refuse. They simply want someone else to say there is 4/32, and then BFG will say there is still tread left.

You have Sears saying they are ready to change. Have Sears push the claim.
