CHP says SR18 is still closed on this (west) side of Big Bear dam. I'm not crazy about driving off the mountain and back up again... twice. Makes the drive almost 3 times as long :(. I'll check again in the AM.

...i just heard it is confirmed on 18's closure...the rest of the roads they said they will plow 24 hrs a day thru the weekend...so i guess i should go up the 15 to???
...and i second the later start...i know there is a couple killer little taverns....and maybe get a chili size to warm up...

15N -> Bear Valley Road east -> 18 south. If I come, I'll be doing the same thing from the 138.

Did I mention it's finally snowing here?

...tell me it's snowing powder...:D

It's powder :p:.

It's nice, but if it snows enough at this elevation that I can't easily get out of my driveway without shoveling, then I'm not going to be there in the morning. I'll be sitting in front of a big fire drinking cocoa

I screwed up my shoulder trying to get a ton of wood split before the rain came and I'm really not up to shoveling snow if I don't have to

...thats why you got khiori,lol....:D

...i am soooo, just kidding....:p:

Well just home from Phoenix:D hopefully i get up in time later this am and make it up there.

Quoting the Freeway electronic sign board i saw on the way in

"Chain conditions exist in mountain areas":D

...i'm up and ready...:bounce:

...no chains here but we'll see...glad you made it back safe...:D

...i just heard the weather for today...big bear, rain, sleet, and snow, with snow levels down to 2500' tonight...

...and i pulled this for today's road conditions:

SR 18
[IN THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA]
IS CLOSED FROM 5 MI EAST OF THE JCT OF SR 330 TO BIG BEAR DAM
(SAN BERNARDINO CO) - DUE TO ROCK SLIDES - A DETOUR IS AVAILABLE

CHAINS ARE REQUIRED ON ALL VEHICLES EXCEPT 4-WHEEL-DRIVE VEHICLES WITH SNOW
TIRES ON ALL 4 WHEELS FROM THE JCT OF SR 189 TO BIG BEAR CITY
(SAN BERNARDINO CO)

...i guess i'm ok with the bfg a/t's....:D

They very rarely have any chain control on hwy 18 coming up from Lucerne Valley. At least I've never seen it...

Cyber - Glad you made it home safe...

HEY CYBER, WAKE UP!!!! LOL...

...i'm leaving in a couple minutes...got to get gas and all that and i am just taking my time to get up there plus i am going to check on getting a room for tonight, we'll see..i will be coming around thru the desert though and i am going to try to get thru before all the city folk realize they can't get thru the 330/18...:D

Oh bummer i just woke up damm:(

well i can still make it if ya wanna push back the start time alittle;)
