I'd like to go then but how about something sooner like say in July? I've been dying to get out wheelin'.

I'll be up for Big Bear, just not for a week, Brian!

Dave, I've been wanting to go back to Corral Canyon. Maybe we can go there in July. There are some tough trails, a couple campgrounds and a lake.

Sounds good to me. It would be a nice break from the typical 100 degree days around that time. Also, that's usually before they close the forests again for fire season. :(

Where the heck is Corral Canyon?

Yeah...what Brian said :p

It's east of San Diego off I-8. You turn off at Buckman Springs and go south a couple miles. It borders Lake Morena. It's a state ORV park, but it's not well known. I'll try to find a link.

Too Hot Out There

:fire: I Bought one of those guide books and its in there. Trails named Sidewinder, Bronco Peak and Pinion Mtn. Its too friggin hot out there in the summer, over 100 usually. They look like fun though. There is also a trial further east, Elliot Mine/Smuggler's Cave that I would like to try. There are two campgrounds out there, Corral Cyn and Bobcat Meadow. There is a picture of Bobcat in the book and its shaded. It looks like we could do the two hardest trails (Sidewinder and Bronco Peak) on a day trip if we got there in the morning. I would be up for that. Its less than an hour drive from my house.

This desert season, how about we plan a several day trip to Death Valley or Calico? There is lots of scenery and some pretty tough trails. In Calico, there are two trails I don't think we could make it through (Odessa Cyn and Bismark Cyn), looking at the pictures of the Jeeps wedged in the rocks because there is not enough room to turn even for those little buggers. Sounds like lots of fun, especially for Dave, I mean Dan, no wait its Dave...DAMM

Hahaha :p...Hey, I have 7 in. less sheet metal now to damage so you never know, lol.

bronco peak is where I rolled my ranger the first time. Stupid mistake on my part and lack of experiance. fun tril from what I remember but would be best running it going up hill. If you guys go I wouldnt mine grabing a spare seat if I am around.

Matt

Well, since I drive an off road station wagon, there is always an extra seat.

So let's get something planned for July. Corral Canyon, Los Coyotes, day trip, overnight...I just wanna wheel!

Hey, i'm with you Bill...I haven't wheeled since my alternator went out and that was about 2 or 3 months ago now.
I'm game for just about anywhere :burnout:

Some guys on the Pirate board have been talking about rebuilding parts of the John Bull trail to bring it back to its former glory. That trail is supposed to be one of the more difficult trials up there but there's a lot of "helper" rocks to get people up and over in the areas what should be more challenging.
So if and when we get a run together, it should be pretty interesting up there.

Every now and then, the club that adopted John Bull gets out there and move the rocks around. The Jeepers Jamboree guys (I have heard) stack the rocks to make it easier for everyone else. The Forest Service rep told me this can be bad since people get on the trail who don't belong, they carve up new paths and bring it one step closer to closure - satisfying the anti-access Greens... :fire:

-Ken

Well, regardless of who does the rockstacking they just doesn't get it...the trail is marked as "most difficult" and they turn it into a "moderate" which is what they should be on. Secondly, if they are going to stack rocks they should unstack them after passing the obstacle so the next guy can enjoy.

How about a day trip to Corral Canyon next weekend. For some reason, I have the next two weekend's off. It would be a little hot, but I can just turn on the AC.
