Hey, well after 3 days it is done (pics Below)
Day 1- Alot of staring at the radiator and the fan, and making brackets in our heads.... But by day 2 these designs were useless as we had to change it
Day 2- Got up early, took the truck over to my Bros house, and created the brackets, these brackets are unlike the ones Flex-A-Lite includes in there Kit. My fan was bought for a s-10 Blazer, so iot included some brackets. One of the brackets we used to mount it(with a little modification) than we made another one almsot exactly like it outta steel. We had two of these we coulda used, but the other one is for my switch panel/gauge pod. We used that one instead of make it outta steel, since it would look cleaner, and mroe perfectly made. My intake we had to do a little fabbing on, its not the prettiest looking, but this aint no show truck
. We than got the brackets made, headed back home to install it. We ran some wire, and got all the incab wiring setup while we were letting the motor cool down some. I have the switch panel made up with 2 switches, and in the middle will go a water temp. gauge. I have not purchased this yet. One switch is currently not used, but will do my Offroad lights once i buy some new ones. The other one controlls the fan. It is a 2 way switch. Up position is All the time ON, Middle is normal operation where it goes with the built in thermostat thingy. And down is the most important, Manual Override OFF. This is for like water crossings and the like. So we got this all done. We than removed the old flex fan and Old radiator. We than did the easiest thing, put the new radiator/fan assembly in. That was the easy part, than came wiring everything up. We had almost everythign wired up, than stopped working around midnight. I let my dad do all the wiring. He is excellent at wiring, and as i coulda done it, it comes out better, and is more reliable
. While he was doing all the wiring, i was installing this cool thingy-mi-bob my bro made for me to tie all my breather lines in, at a later date(when i goto the store next) i will be putting a crankcase breather filter on it. Back to the wiring. We had everything done, cept the ignition ON wire we forgot to wire up inside, and the A/C Clutch wire.
Day 3- We went to got started on it around 11am. Got all the wiring done Got it fired off, worked first time. Than we seen the intake tube was close to the fan shroud, and the fan shroud isnt entirely covering the fan blades, and we were afrade it would hit the tube. So off come previously modified intake tube, and here comes more modfication. One trip to Home Depot, and 3 different to try. We ended up take some pipe and coming up with some wierd thing. LOL. All in All It works Great. Also on Day 2, we flipped the MAF upside down, My plug that plugged into the MAS was always tight, and could never get it slack, so flipped over it had plenty of slack.........
To be continued.......
