Just leave it out of 4wd and you'll be fine. You should be fine for a while even if you do have to use 4wd. It won't harm the axle, just get it fixed as soon as you can.
Axle will be fine but if it is not broken already the cam/locking hardware my be destroyed. I wouldn't worry if you will be switching to the Warns since the hardware is not reused anyway.
